Lauren M. Miller concentrates her practice in entertainment and media matters. Ms. Miller represents producers, writers, rights-holders, animators, toy creators, major studios, independent production companies, television networks, video-on-demand and electronic-sell-through platforms, visual effects companies, publishing companies and other institutional and individual clients in various transactions in connection with all aspects of the development, production, acquisition and distribution of motion pictures, television programming (scripted and non-scripted), and other entertainment content. Ms. Miller has experience representing entertainment clients in both litigation and transactional matters, including rights management, motion picture music licensing, trademark licensing, new media business ventures, copyright infringement, idea theft, defamation, digital piracy and trademark infringement.
Some of her recent experience includes:
- Led team of attorneys in project involving review and written analysis of Above the Line and Below the Line employment agreements and production, distribution, and co-financing agreements for a major motion picture studio.
- Supervised team of attorneys in comprehensive rights management projects involving motion picture music licensing and digital distribution for several studio clients.
Ms. Miller graduated
cum laude from Yale University in 2002 and earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of California at Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law in 2005, where she was president of the Sports and Entertainment Law Society and co-president of the Berkeley Business Law Forum. Ms. Miller is a member of the Los Angeles Bar Association and is admitted to practice in California and before the United States District Court for the Central, Southern, Northern, Eastern and Western Districts of California.
