CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP is pleased to announce that the firm has been presented the Champion for Children award by the Council for Children’s Rights (CFCR) for dedicating time and resources to protecting children’s rights.

In addition to providing legal and other services, Katten is a sponsor of CFCR’s annual benefit event at the Southern Spring Home and Garden Show. Several Katten attorneys are involved with CFCR as donors and volunteer lawyers. Charlotte-based attorney William E. Underwood, Jr. currently serves on the organization's board of directors, following a three-year term served by Katten partner A. Victor Wray.

CFCR works primarily in the areas of special education, abuse and neglect, mental health, custody, domestic violence and juvenile justice, and also accepts cases in which a child is in danger or when his or her rights to receive government or community services mandated by law are in jeopardy of being violated.

Katten has a long-term commitment to helping the poor, powerless and disenfranchised obtain first-rate legal representation without charge. The firm’s attorneys and other legal professionals give their time, resources and talent to serve individuals and organizations in need, to engage in important national litigation, and to partner with local legal service providers to ensure access to the justice system.
