Katten Brings on Top New York Litigator David A. Crichlow

Firm News | July 13, 2012

(NEW YORK) Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP today announced that David A. Crichlow will be joining the firm’s Litigation Practice in New York. Crichlow has extensive experience in contract, commercial fraud, securities, banking, government contracts, insolvency and class action litigation, as well as internal corporate investigations.

“David is a great addition to our Litigation Practice in New York. He is a talented litigator and has broad knowledge of the financial services industry. We look forward to his leadership and contributions to the firm,” said Vincent A. F. Sergi, Katten’s national managing partner.

Crichlow focuses on issues related to complex commercial disputes and is engaged in trial and appellate practice in federal and state courts, and in administrative agencies and arbitration tribunals.

His experience includes successfully representing the Equity Committee in the Solutia bankruptcy in its $2 billion lawsuit against Solutia’s former parent for allegedly undercapitalizing Solutia at its spin-off; defending a Boise, Idaho, corporation in a “bet-the-company” putative class action suit arising from a $47 million bond offering issued by a real estate development company that was allegedly engaged in a Ponzi scheme; and representing one of the country’s largest oil companies in several matters, including protecting its interests in investments in two Reserve Fund money market funds, after the Reserve Fund notoriously “broke-the-buck” as a result of the financial crisis of 2008.

Additionally, Crichlow was named the 2011 Metropolitan Black Bar Association’s Private Practitioner of the Year, and previously has been recognized in New York Super Lawyers. He received his JD from the University of Pennsylvania and his BA from Hofstra University.

Crichlow is the latest in a series of hires from Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP. In May, Katten announced the addition of five premier restructuring, insolvency and finance attorneys in Southern California and New York. Crichlow works closely with that group.
