LOS ANGELES – Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP is pleased to announce that Joshua D. Wayser has joined the firm as a partner in its Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice. Mr. Wayser, who will be based in Katten’s Los Angeles office, joins the firm after spending three years as a partner at Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell LLP.
Mr. Wayser has more than 18 years of experience handling business and commercial matters, representing a wide array of financial institutions in connection with bankruptcy, creditor's rights and general litigation. His broad-based practice includes state court receiverships and writ of attachments, representing creditors in chapter 7, 11 and 13 proceedings, and assisting financial institutions in all aspects of litigation, both at trial and on appeal. Mr. Wayser also has an active lender-based real estate litigation practice, representing, among others, California National Bank, Park National Bank, Cathay Bank, BankFirst and Pacific Coast Capital. In addition, Mr. Wayser has experience litigating labor and employment claims including wrongful termination, discrimination and harassment claims.
Mr. Wayser serves as both a Judge Pro Tem and an arbitrator for the Los Angeles Superior Courts. He is very active in pro bono and community activities in Los Angeles, including serving as a national trustee for the Union of Reform Judaism and acting as the co-chair of its regional biennial. He also is a past president of Beth Chayim Chadashim Synagogue, the first gay and lesbian synagogue in the country. Mr. Wayser volunteers at the Gay and Lesbian Legal Services Clinic, where he counsels people with HIV and AIDS.
Previously, he clerked for Judge Louis Stanton of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. Mr. Wayser has also lectured and given seminars on creditors’ rights, and has been a presenter at the annual meetings of the State Bar of California.
Mr. Wayser earned his B.A. from Columbia University and his J.D. from the Columbia University Law School.
