Katten Adds Tax Lawyer Steven Guise in Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES – Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP is pleased to announce that Steven Guise has joined the firm as a Los Angeles-based attorney in its 50-plus lawyer Trusts and Estates Practice. Previously, Mr. Guise was a partner for more than 25 years with Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP in Los Angeles.
Mr. Guise’s estate planning practice focuses on personal tax planning and charitable giving. He provides counsel to many prominent, ultra high net worth families on a variety of estate planning issues, including trust arrangements, limited partnerships, and related income tax and business issues.
As part of his estate planning practice, Mr. Guise also advises on the formation of public charities, private foundations and charitable remainder trusts for his clients. Among the past beneficiaries of his counsel are the California Governor and First Lady’s Conference on Women, the Performing Arts Center of Los Angeles County, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association and Walt Disney Concert Hall.

Mr. Guise is a past chair of the Employee Benefits Committee of the Taxation Section of the State Bar of California and the Los Angeles County Bar Association. He is also a member of the American Bar Association Section of Taxation Employee Benefits Committee and Committee on Lifetime Transfers: Transfer Tax Issues. Mr. Guise previously served as secretary of the Board of Directors of the Music Center of Los Angeles County.
Mr. Guise regularly speaks on topics including private foundation formation, creation and termination of limited partnerships, the use of grantor trusts, distribution planning and tax concepts in the family law arena.
Mr. Guise earned his B.A. from the University of Michigan, his J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School, and an LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center.
