Qualifications and Career Profile

Joel A. Yunis concentrates his practice in corporate acquisitions, financings and restructurings, and securities law matters. Over the years, he has represented various domestic and foreign corporations in connection with the acquisition and disposition of U.S. businesses, the public and private financing of their businesses and their day-to-day operating problems.

Mr. Yunis is the author of "Going Private," a leading treatise on going private and merger and acquisition transactions, and he has counseled both the acquiror and acquired, as well as Board of Director Committees, on a variety of going private and merger and acquisition transactions. He also has been active in the sale and merger of corporate entities that own real estate, and the sale of packages of shopping centers to REITS and other investors; and in connection with the acquisition, sale and financing of apparel and textile companies.

Mr. Yunis also participates in offerings for both issuers and underwriters, private placements of equity and debt securities, as well as a broad range of insurance company and bank lending and restructuring transactions.

Mr. Yunis was a member of the Management Committee of Rosenman & Colin LLP from 1996 – 2001 and a member of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP.

Mr. Yunis received his undergraduate degree (B.A., 1963) from New York University and his law degree cum laude, (LL.B., 1966 and LL.M. in Corporation Law, 1967) from the New York University School of Law.
