Jennifer Baker Loeb's practice focuses on white collar criminal defense, internal investigations and appellate litigation. Ms. Loeb regularly represents corporations and individuals in investigations conducted by the United States Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission and other regulatory enforcement agencies. She also represents clients in state and federal appellate courts throughout the country.
Ms. Loeb's recent experience includes the following:
- Representing a former executive of a construction company in a civil case and federal criminal investigation involving alleged violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
- Representing an international airline in a federal criminal investigation involving alleged false statements.
- Conducting an internal investigation for a national managed care organization regarding alleged violations of the Anti-Kickback Statute and civil False Claims Act.
- Representing a national managed care organization in a Senate investigation into its business practices and contracts.
- Drafting an amicus brief in the Colorado Court of Appeals regarding the constitutional implications of a state family law statute.
- Defending a major health insurance company in a proposed nationwide consumer class action alleging fraudulent marketing.
Ms. Loeb also has an active
pro bono practice. She recently represented several Holocaust survivors who applied to the German government for pension payments for work performed in World War II ghettos. One client received a substantial back payment award that considerably improved her quality of life. Ms. Loeb has also represented several individuals in immigration court proceedings.
Prior to joining Katten, Ms. Loeb was an associate at O'Melveny & Myers LLP, where her practice focused on white collar criminal matters, governmental investigations and complex civil cases. She also worked as a legal intern in the Office of the Counsel to Vice President Joseph R. Biden. During law school, Ms. Loeb served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Marsha S. Berzon on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
Ms. Loeb graduated from the University of San Francisco School of Law,
summa cum laude, where she received the Academic Excellence Award and was a member of the McAuliffe Honor Society. She was the technical editor for the
University of San Francisco Law Review, a member of the Moot Court Executive Board and a participant in the Robert F. Wagner National Labor and Employment Law Moot Court Competition. Ms. Loeb received her Bachelor of Arts degree,
magna cum laude, from New York University.
Ms. Loeb is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and California.
