Jan Cate has broad experience in secured and unsecured debt financing, including acquisition financing, asset-based lending, leveraged lending, subordinated debt, trade finance, transactions involving real estate and first lien/second lien transactions, as well as in representing borrowers and lenders in financial restructurings, workouts and “DIP” facilities. Ms. Cate represents administrative agents, lenders and borrowers in structuring and documenting syndicated loans, “club deals” and single-bank transactions. Her lending experience spans many industries and businesses, including broadcast, satellite and other communications and media companies, food and other retail products, casinos and gaming, theaters, restaurants, health care facilities, agricultural companies, and religious and other nonprofit institutions.
Prior to joining Katten, Ms. Cate was a partner at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, where she led the firm’s Los Angeles Finance Section. She was also resident in Hong Kong, where she represented Bank of America, N.A., in a variety of international finance transactions.
