Mr. Tampellini has a broad practice area representing institutional and individual clients in a wide variety of commercial litigation matters including business torts, such as breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, restrictive covenants, and tortious interference. In addition, he has litigated issues involving real property disputes, commercial real estate foreclosures, insurance and risk management, securities litigation and trusts and estates.

Mr. Tampellini was a former detective in the New York City Police Department and utilizes his extensive investigative experience in litigating cases involving fraud and in performing internal investigations for clients.

  • Internal investigation for client concerning improper use of client’s facilities and proprietary information by employees.
  • Representation of major insurance company relating to investigations and litigations involving insurance fraud.
  • Internal investigation and representation of individual client who was a victim of embezzlement and identity theft.
  • Representation of individual client who was defrauded in loan and real estate transaction.
  • Representation of individual clients involving dispute over ownership of corporation held by testamentary trust.
  • Representation of commercial client in dispute involving real property easement.
  • Representation of secured lender in action involving defaulted commercial real estate loan in excess of $100 million.
  • Representation of secured lender in action involving defaulted commercial real estate loan in excess of $20 million.
  • Representation of financial institution in action seeking to recover losses under fidelity insurance bond.

Lectures and Articles

Mr. Tampellini has lectured before the National Insurance Crime Bureau on insurance fraud and co-authored “A Different Approach in the Battle Against No-Fault Insurance Fraud,” Jaffe Legal News Service, November 2005.

Education and Bar/Court Admissions

Mr. Tampellini earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from New York Law School in 2001, where he was an editor of the International Law Journal. He is admitted to practice in New York and before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and has tried cases and argued appeals in the federal and state courts in New York.
