Partner Samson Helfgott will be a panelist on Tuesday, November 14 at 1:45 p.m. in the session "Using Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) to File Foreign Patent Application.” This workshop will  cover the following topics:

  • Understanding the purpose of the PCT;
  • The advantages and disadvantages of filing a PCT application;
  • Where and how to file a PCT patent application;
  • Costs associated with PCT applications; and
  • Strategies for using the PCT effectively and efficiently.

Helfgott will also serve as a panelist in the session "Examining Regional and National Patent Systems Throughout the Globe" Tuesday, November 14 at 3:45 p.m. This discussion will explore which countries belong to regional patent organizations, what type of authority these organizations have, and the advantages and disadvantages of filing with a regional office. The discussion also will address the Japanese Patent Office and its role in the global patent community.
