Harrison J. Dossick is a member of the Firm’s Entertainment and Litigation Practices. He focuses his practice on litigating and resolving a wide range of disputes in the motion picture, television and music industries. The types of matters he typically handles include defending creators, producers and distributors of television programs and motion pictures from idea submission and copyright infringement claims, representing studios and production companies in profit participation disputes, handling matters involving the formation and interpretation of complex motion picture and television agreements, representing clients in claims involving the acquisition, production and/or distribution of motion pictures and television series, and resolving claims over the rights to exploit a range of intellectual property. In addition, he represents entertainment and other clients in trademark matters, Internet and e-commerce disputes, and has counseled clients in assuring compliance with state and federal law in connection with the marketing and advertising of products and services.
Prior to joining the Firm in 2000, Mr. Dossick was an entertainment litigation partner with Troop Steuber Pasich Reddick & Tobey, LLP in Los Angeles.
Publications and Speaking
Mr. Dossick is a columnist for the Los Angeles Daily Journal where he regularly publishes articles on legal issues pertaining to the entertainment industry, the most recent being "Appeals Court Finds Garvey Didn't Foul Out in Infomercial-Host Rule" (October 7, 2004). In 1999 he was selected to author an article for publication in the Los Angeles Lawyer’s Fifteenth Annual Entertainment Law Issue, entitled "Resolving Disputes Over Oral and Unsigned Film Agreement." More recently, he and fellow partner David Halberstadter co-authored the cover story for the Los Angeles Lawyer Magazine’s Seventeenth Annual Entertainment Law Issue, entitled, "Facing the Music." He also has spoken at several seminars sponsored by the Los Angeles Copyright Society, the Beverly Hills Bar Association, the Century City Chamber of Commerce, and the Los Angeles County Bar Association on entertainment industry-related topics. Mr. Dossick was listed in 2006 and 2010 as a Southern California Super Lawyer in Arts & Entertainment in Los Angeles Magazine and Southern California Super Lawyers Magazine.
