Department of Homeland Security Announces New Agenda

On July 13, 2005, the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, Michael Chertoff, announced a new six-point agenda for the Department intended to ensure that its policies, operations and structures are aligned in the best way to address the potential threats facing the United States. Among other things, the new agenda includes the creation of the "Secure Freight" initiative as well as a major restructuring of the Department.
