Training is essential at this stage of a law student's career. We provide the most comprehensive training possible to help you become a skilled attorney. Here’s a sample of the training you can expect to receive.
- Summer Associates are given the opportunity to focus in on one practice area or to diversify their summer experience by crossing-over between practice areas. While the Charlotte office has the resources, opportunities and stability offered by a large firm, our smaller local size allows summer associates to work closely and directly with partners, other associates and counsel.
- Our program allows summer associates to learn first hand about different practice areas and to evaluate their own strengths in making career decisions.
- Summer Associates are each assigned an attorney mentor to assist the Summer Associate in acclimating to the Firm.
- Each team outlines goals for training, procedures and client contact specific to the practice area.
- Each Summer Associate receives instructions, review and feedback.
- Summer Associates have client contact and the opportunity to directly observe lawyers as part of the training experience. We believe that contact with clients is critical to understanding client goals and promotes the teamwork needed to achieve a favorable result for each client.
- Additional training from our other offices is available to Charlotte associates by teleconference and video conference.
