What type of continuing legal education and development do you provide for attorneys?

Department heads and training committees design and oversee ongoing formal and informal training within each department and practice area and on a firm wide basis.  Internal training events include panel presentations, round table discussions and monthly breakfast, luncheon or after-work seminars focused on commonly encountered topics for junior associates, and more advanced topics for senior associates and partners.  Other programs include substantive law and practice skills training, client relationship management, and professional seminars on such topics as negotiation and litigation techniques.

How are Associates compensated?

In addition to their annual base salary, Associates are eligible for a variety of bonuses and other compensation.  Bonuses are paid annually based on billable hours, merit, firm-citizenship and client origination.  Referral bonuses ($10,000) are paid to Associates who bring new lateral attorneys to the Firm.  Associates are also eligible for a one month paid sabbatical after five years of service to the Firm.  For new lateral attorneys, the Firm generally pays bar exam and review course fees, as well as certain moving expenses.

What is the Partnership track at Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP?

We are a two-tiered Partnership. After about seven and a half years, Associates are eligible to become income Partners, and of those eligible, the vast majority attain this status. Although this is the typical track, an Associate can be elected to Partnership status earlier. All income Partners are eligible to be elected to the level of capital Partner. Our attorneys can progress in their legal careers as quickly as their talent and ambition allow.

How does the sabbatical program work?

We offer a paid one month sabbatical to Associates after 5 years of service in the Firm. All eligible Associates are encouraged to take this time.

What is the Firm's commitment to pro bono work?

Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP is one of the only firms in the country to have a full-time pro bono Partner. We are consistently recognized for the number of pro bono hours our attorneys contribute and Associate pro bono billing is recognized as part of a contribution to the Firm. Our pro bono work is diverse. We represent organizations serving the community, civic organizations and the needy. We engage in important national litigation and Partner with local legal service providers to represent individuals who otherwise would not have access to the justice system. For details, click here.
