BeLinda I. Mathie concentrates her practice in complex litigation and dispute resolution matters, including real estate litigation, internal corporate investigations, white collar criminal defense and financial services litigation. Ms. Mathie represents clients in all stages of the litigation process at the trial and appellate levels, and in alternative dispute resolution proceedings. Ms. Mathie is admitted to practice in Illinois and before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.

Ms. Mathie has represented individuals and business of all sizes, ranging from small limited liability companies and closely-held partnerships to large, international corporations. Her real estate litigation experience includes bringing foreclosure claims on behalf of institutional lenders in connection with retail, hotel, single family home development, and condominium properties in multiple states, as well as defending lender liability and mechanics' lien claims. Ms. Mathie's civil commercial litigation experience includes litigating breach of contract, business torts, breach of fiduciary duty, and defamation matters on behalf of clients in a wide variety of industries. In addition, Ms. Mathie represents clients in connection with enforcement proceedings by government agencies and participates in comprehensive internal corporate investigations involving potential violations of state and federal law and regulations. Ms. Mathie's white collar and internal investigation experience includes defending claims of insider trading, Medicare and Medicaid fraud, violations of state mortgage laws, and complaints brought under the False Claims Act.

Ms. Mathie is also actively involved in pro bono work. She has helped an undocumented immigrant who was the victim of domestic violence obtain legal permanent residency in the United States and has represented clients in criminal appeals in state and federal courts in Illinois. In addition to her legal experience, Ms. Mathie served in a leadership role as a member of the firm's Associates Committee. Ms. Mathie's community involvement includes positions on the Membership Committee of the Legal Assistance Foundation of Metropolitan Chicago's Young Professionals Board and on the Membership Committee of the Overture Council of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

Ms. Mathie earned her Bachelor of Arts degree with distinction from the University of Michigan in 1998. She graduated with honors from The University of Chicago Law School in 2001, where she was an Articles Editor for The University of Chicago Law Review. Before joining the firm, Ms. Mathie was a law clerk for the Honorable James B. Loken of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.
