Becky A. Williams

Becky A. Williams focuses her practice primarily on assisting clients with the identification, clearance, protection and policing of intellectual property. Ms. Williams is involved in all aspects of intellectual property portfolio management. Her practice includes counseling clients on the availability and registration of trademarks and service marks, and regularly prosecuting applications for registration before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Ms. Williams also coordinates the acquisition and maintenance of foreign trademark registrations in numerous countries.

Ms. Williams’ experience includes drafting and negotiating contracts impacting and protecting clients’ intellectual property rights, including license agreements, assignments, releases and work made for hire agreements. In addition, she represents clients concerning software and technology licensing issues, including open source licensing.

Ms. Williams also has extensive experience drafting website privacy policies, and has dealt regularly with issues concerning the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). Similarly, Ms. Williams regularly drafts website terms of use and services agreements. Further, Ms. Williams is involved in all intellectual property aspects of due diligence in regards to mergers, acquisitions and other transactional matters.

Ms. Williams received her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Criminology from Marquette University in 1995. She earned her Juris Doctor degree from DePaul University College of Law in 2000. She is admitted to practice in Illinois (2000).
