Barrett C. Mallos concentrates his practice in real estate and financial services matters.
Mr. Mallos has significant experience representing capital markets lenders in the origination and servicing of commercial mortgage loans, with an emphasis on originating loans for the commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) market. He has a substantial background in representing servicers of commercial mortgage loans in a variety of areas, in particular the defeasance of securitized loans. Mr. Mallos also has experience representing commercial real estate purchasers acquiring real property and obtaining financing in connection with the acquisition of such real property.
Mr. Mallos has experience in tax-exempt bond financings, tax credit syndications (including low income housing tax credits), and FHA, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac mortgage loan transactions. He also has significant experience representing a variety of dealers and end users in the negotiation of the ISDA documentation framework.
Mr. Mallos earned his B.A. from Davidson College and his J.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law, where he was a member of the University of North Carolina Law Review. He is admitted to practice in North Carolina.
