Anwar T. Shatat practices in complex civil and commercial litigation matters. He has extensive experience in the area of real estate and construction litigation and has represented and counseled a wide variety of real estate and construction clients, including nationally known institutional lenders, developers, general contractors and design professionals. Mr. Shatat frequently writes and lectures on real estate and construction litigation issues.

In addition to his experiences in real estate matters, Mr. Shatat has represented companies and individuals in business and commercial disputes, civil securities matters, cases involving theft of trade secrets and employee restrictive covenants, emergency litigation involving temporary restraining orders and preliminary injunctions and complex estate and trust litigation.

Mr. Shatat is deeply committed to pro bono work and has undertaken a wide range of pro bono representation. He has represented individuals in criminal trials and appeals and civil rights litigation, and nonprofits in civil cases.

Mr. Shatat is also extensively involved in bar activities. He has served as an officer of the Arab-American Bar Association of Illinois since 2008 and is active in the Illinois State Bar Association, serving as a member of its Construction Law Section Council since 2010.

Mr. Shatat attended the John Marshall Law School, where he graduated summa cum laude in 2006. During law school, he was a member of the John Marshall Law Review and a member of the moot court team, competing in national moot court competitions.
