Anne Alexander’s practice involves a broad array of land use, real estate and environmental matters, and includes representation of a variety of businesses in all aspects of the real estate development process. Her practice includes land use and environmental permitting, as well as negotiation of purchase and sale agreements and leases with public and private entities for improved and unimproved real property. She also represents businesses in connection with the purchase, sale and lease of real property in the context of corporate transactions, with a particular focus on land use and environmental concerns. She has coordinated real estate, land use and environmental due diligence for lenders and financial institutions, among others, and regularly advises lender clients in land use issues arising in the foreclosure context, including financial rights and obligations relating to development agreements and community facilities district special taxes.

Ms. Alexander has experience in the areas of subdivisions, landlord-tenant, historic preservation, the California Coastal Act, local zoning and rent control laws, condominium conversion, water rights, and redevelopment of brownfields. She has represented clients such as universities, national retailers, cemeteries, developers of for-rent and for-sale residential projects, self storage facilities and railroads.

Prior to joining Katten, Ms. Alexander was an associate at Latham & Watkins LLP, where she focused her practice on commercial and real estate finance, and Irell & Manella LLP.

Ms. Alexander earned her Juris Doctor from UCLA School of Law in 2003, where she was one of the founding members of the Women's Law Union, and served as Chief Comments Editor of the UCLA Journal of International Law and Foreign Affairs. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree cum laude in linguistics and Italian from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1995. She is admitted to practice in California. She is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, and the Real Property and Environmental Law Sections of the State Bar of California.
