Alexander Menotti concentrates his practice in environmental law with a particular focus on the Clean Air Act, Climate Change and Renewable Fuels.
Prior to joining Katten, Mr. Menotti was an associate at Kelley Drye. Before that, he served as a law clerk for the Environmental Crimes and General Litigation Sections of the Environment and Natural Resources Division of the United States Department of Justice. Mr. Menotti also worked on a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) contract with Professor Debra Jacobson for the DOE’s Clean Energy/Air Quality Integration Initiative for the Mid-Atlantic, Northeast and Southeast Regions. He assisted states in developing state implementation plans under the Clean Air Interstate Rule (CAIR) that included measures for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), and successfully advocated for EERE allowances in both summer and annual NOx trading budgets under CAIR.
Mr. Menotti received his bachelor's degree from Colgate University in 2002 and his Juris Doctor from The George Washington University Law School in 2007, cum laude. While in law school, Mr. Menotti was a member of the Environmental Law Society and served as co-chair of the National Association of Environmental Law Societies Annual Conference. He is admitted to practice in Washington, D.C., and Maryland.
