Adam R. Klein chairs Katten's Sports Law Practice. Mr. Klein counsels a wide array of participants in the sports industry regarding a variety of matters related to the business of sports, including the purchase and sale of sports franchises; player and management issues; compliance with League rules and developments in League policies; television, radio and Internet rights agreements; arena/stadium matters; debt and equity financing; intellectual property issues; ticketing agreements; concession deals; and sponsorship and naming rights agreements. His experience includes representing the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bulls, Oakland Athletics, St. Louis Blues, Golden State Warriors, Boston Celtics, Detroit Pistons, Chicago Fire, Philadelphia Union, San Jose Earthquakes, Stockton Thunder and Cedar Rapid RoughRiders, and several arenas/stadiums. Mr. Klein has represented various clients in their pursuit of purchasing sports franchises, as well as financial advisors (such as Citibank), lenders (such as JPMorgan Chase) and regional sports networks (such as Time Warner Cable in connection with its broadcast rights agreement with the Los Angeles Lakers) in sports transactions. He also has represented Miller Brewing in NFL sponsorships and counseled the developers of high-end, multi-use properties, such as the Time Warner Center, in their sponsorship deals for such properties.

Mr. Klein also concentrates his practice on representing issuers, investment banks and investors in public and private offerings of equity and debt securities. He also provides counseling to public companies in connection with required periodic disclosure, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, tender offers, exchange offers, stockholder meetings, stock incentive plans, executive compensation, and complying with the federal securities laws and NASDAQ, NYSE and AMEX rules. Mr. Klein has also represented companies, audit committees and executive officers in connection with financial restatements, special investigations and SEC investigations. In addition, Mr. Klein has provided securities law counseling to parties that are involved in securitization transactions that include the public offering of asset-backed securities.

Mr. Klein earned a Bachelor of Science degree in policy analysis from Cornell University in 1992 and received his Juris Doctor degree from Harvard Law School in 1995. He is co-author of "2011 Handbook for Preparing SEC Annual Reports and Proxy Statements" (CCH Incorporated), and has been a featured speaker on securities law and sports law matters at conferences. He was selected as a member of the Lawdragon 500 "New Stars, New Worlds" in 2006, has been listed in Illinois Super Lawyers as an Illinois Rising Star (2010) and earned recognition as a sports lawyer in Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business (2011).
