Joshua Rubenstein, Chair of the firm’s Trusts and Estates Practice, was quoted in an article in the Wall Street Journal on the effects of a year without federal estate tax. Congress’s failure to act and reinstate the tax has some people considering end-of-life decisions and has put their attorneys and other advisors in a difficult position. Mr. Rubenstein says there may be a real danger of tax-motivated suicides. “Most people don't kill their relatives, but I’m afraid that moms and dads who are already sick will quietly kill themselves,” he says.
