Joshua Rubenstein, national head of the Trusts and Estates practice, will speak on “Property Regimes and Marital Claims” at 3:10 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, during this gathering of leading legal and accounting professionals from around the world who advise wealthy families on the structuring and protection of their estates. Mr. Rubenstein will join Alon Kaplan from the Alon Kaplan International Law Firm in Tel Aviv to review different property regimes, particularly in common, civil and religious law, and focus on the marital and family rights accorded under those regimes. The presentation will explore conflict of law principles as parties move into different jurisdictions or own property in different jurisdictions, and discuss the ability to use marital agreements, trusts and similar devices to alter the default rights accorded by such jurisdictions.
